Who is The Glass?

The Glass is a specialist online wine, beer & spirits store. We are aligned with many big brands and big wineries but we also bring you quality wines and specials from boutique wineries and suppliers you may not have heard of. We have years of experience in online sales and distribution of wine. We are also heavily involved in local wines and have many industry connections.

Do I have to pay to become a member of The Glass?

No. Being a member of The Glass is 100% FREE.

Is the wine you sell of high quality?

Very simply - Yes. If we wouldn't drink it - we won't sell it. If a wine is a quaffer - we'll tell you. If the wine is excellent we'll tell you that too! You will of course find that some less expensive wines won't have the same characteristics that more expensive wines do. But you know that already.

What if I don’t like my purchase?

All our products come with a 100% Quality Guarantee. If you feel that you have not got value for money, or if your purchase is in some way damaged or spoiled, please contact customerservice@theglass.com.au immediately.

Will you sell my personal information to other people?

No. Never. We dislike SPAM as much as you do. Your details will never be disclosed to third parties unless we are legally required to do so.

What payment methods does The Glass accept?

We accept Visa and Master Card.

Is payment secure?

Absolutely. The Glass uses fully encrypted technology to process your payments and processes all payments through St George and eWay - both leaders in online payment technology.

Do you keep my credit card number?

No. Never. You're details are not retained on our systems or those of our partners.

Can I opt out of the mailing list?

Absolutely. We don't want to send you emails that you have no interest in. But be warned - you won't get any advance notice of special offers or exclusive deals.

How much is freight?

We're up front about freight. It costs us to deliver wine to you so when you buy a case the freight to your delivery address will be quoted to you automatically. We don't hide the costs or have super complicated shipping calculators - the cost is the cost and we'll tell you up front.

If you can pick up from our Canberra warehouse, you can save freight costs on Hot Deals, but for other products they can only be delivered (see next two questions below).

I usually pick up my wine to avoid paying freight. Is this still possible?

Yes, we have more items to pick up than ever before and you will find the full list in Hot Deals. With the other products on the site, we cannot guarantee pickup times, so these can only be delivered. This should be with you within 4 working days.

Please note that a single cart may not have a mix of Hot Deals and other products to qualify for this offer. For warehouse address and opening times, click here.

I can’t remove freight costs from a Hot Deal. I thought I could pick up!

You can pick up all Hot Deals, but not if you have other (non-Hot Deal) products in your cart. If you wish to have some products delivered, and pick up others, you will need to make two separate purchases. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we have found that this approach causes less confusion for our customers.

I am an ALLBIDS customer, but I have never registered for TheGlass. Can I use my ALLBIDS membership details to login?

Yes, you can use either your ALLBIDS Username or the email address associated with it to login to TheGlass. If you have any problems with signup, please contact customerservice@theglass.com.au immediately.

I am having problems logging in!

Sometimes there are glitches logging in because of problems with data transfers or mismatched usernames, email addresses or passwords. Whether you are a new or old customer, if you have any problems with signup, please contact customerservice@theglass.com.au immediately. If necessary, send us your order and we will process it manually for you!

I am having problems completing my purchase!

If you have any problems at all buying products from this site, please contact customerservice@theglass.com.au immediately and we will manually process your order. We are here to make sure you get what you want!

I can’t find the product I want!

The Glass has over 700 of Australia’s most popular wines, beers & spirits for you to choose from and contains powerful ways to narrow these down to exactly the product you are after. There are a number of options to search for products and refine your searches. Click on any of the options below to find out more.

Help with Signing up or Joining The Glass

 

New Customers Joining The Glass

As a new customer, we will need your:
  • Delivery Address so we know where to send the purchases. This can be different from your home address if there is a more convenient location to receive deliveries or you are sending this a gift to someone else.
  • Contact Details – so that we can get in touch with you if there are any issues with the delivery or any other problems.
  • Date of Birth – to verify that you are legally able to purchase alcohol.
  • Billing Details – so that we can process your sale get your purchase to you as soon as possible.

To sign up, either click the LOGIN button on the top right of the Home Page or make a purchase and proceed from the cart. If you have any problems with signup, please contact customerservice@theglass.com.au immediately.

Existing Customers – Logging In

As an existing customer you either have a TheGlass or ALLBIDS login or email address and the appropriate password. You may login at the top right of the Home Page or when you go to buy. Depending on your browser and your security options, you may be able to enable an automatic login next time you enter the site. Simple Search Using the Left Hand Menu Bar on the Home Page

Hot Deals

Hot Deals are products we have in stock that we are trying to sell NOW. They are always priced to clear and we usually have a wide range available. All Hot Deals are in stock and can be picked up from our warehouse (if you want to save on freight) or delivered within 4 working days as with all our regular products.

Selecting the Hot Deals

Red Wines, White Wines, Sparkling Wines, Spirits & Beers

Click on any of these headings to reveal further options to choose from. For example:
  • If you want to look at all the Shiraz options, click on Red Wines, then on Shiraz.
  • If you want to look at for imported Beer prices, click on Beers and choose Imported.
  • If you wanted to look at all the white wines we have available, click on White Wines and choose All Whites.

When you choose a large category – for example Sauvignon Blanc or Shiraz – you may want to further refine and sort your results.

When you open a product page you will first see any Hot Deals in that category, then the rest of the products from the lowest bottle price to the highest. You may sort before or after filtering. You can re-order this list in the following ways.

  • By Price - Lowest to Highest
  • By Price - Highest to Lowest
  • By Region
  • Brands
  • Medals & Awards

Filtering Long Lists

When you open a product page that has a lot of items on it, you may narrow down your results using the Filter process.

For example, if you were looking at Cabernet Sauvignons, but only wanted to view options from McLaren Vale between $15 and $20 per bottle:

  • Choose Min Price = $15
  • Choose Max Price = $20
  • Choose McLaren Vale from the Filter

Let’s say that you then wanted to broaden your search for $15-20 Cab Savs to all of South Australia:

  • Clear the Region Filter so that it says Show All, not McLaren Vale and choose AUS-SA from the State Filter.

Open Search

At the top right of the Home Page there is a search box with the text "Search for the perfect glass", you may enter any text to search for it on the site. This approach may produce variable results!

Brand Search

Shopping by Selecting Product's Brand

On the left hand side of the Home Page, you will find a list of some of our most popular brands. Click on any logo to see all the products of that brand that we have available.

Advanced Search

Click on the Advanced Search tab on the left hand menu bar of the Home Page, and you will be able to search with reference to any variable we record about our products. This is the most powerful way to find the exact style, source and quality you want at the price you are prepared to pay.

Warehouse Details & Times

Hot Deals (and Hot Deals only) may be picked up from our warehouse without incurring freight charges. Please note that a single cart may not have a mix of Hot Deals and other products to qualify for this offer.
