Located 20 miles East of Renmark on the South Australian border is Nelwood Estate. It is owned by a viticultural family with a strong record of consistently producing grapes of the highest quality over four generations.
The vineyards have significant plantings of Shiraz, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot that are produced to the very high quality needed to create the style of wine export markets demand.
Proprietor Richard Dolan believes that wine is a unique expression of the land and the people who care for it - that wine, in essence, is grown. In this case, the wine has been named to raise awareness of the plight of this unique endangered species.
Wombats are hard working nocturnal marsupials and uniquely Australian. The Northern hairy nosed wombat is extremely rare and is classified as critically endangered. They are sometimes known as (amongst other names) the “Moonie River” wombat and can only be found in one small colony in the Epping Forest of Queensland.
An attractive Light Green tinged colour with a green apple and pear fragrance and passionfruit finish. It has a crisp and refreshing palate, slightly sweet and full flavoured but delicate, with a light fruity finish.
